Playing or Personal Notes:
Three parts, each with an A and a B part. Start with a train whistle, then shouted "All Aboard!" - then each part is played twice (as written), starting very slowly, and increasing speed at each part increment. By the time the third part is played, we are moving quite fast. At the end of the 3rd B-part repeat, we start backing up through the piece, decreasing speed as we go, until B1 is done at almost a dead stop. Then a voiced "Shhhhhhh", like the steam brakes letting off. The intent is to replicate the speed of the train as it pulls away from the station, builds up a full head of steam, chugs along merrily, then brakes to a full stop at the next station.
History
